Saturday Night Poll

1. Were you ever left behind as a child, and where?
2. As a parent, have you ever "misplaced" a child?

I was left in a Stuckey's in Oklahoma when I was 8. They got 30 minutes down the road, before my brother's gleeful giggles and snorts clued them in something was missing. I was wandering around looking at all the tchotchkes and had no clue I'd been left; mom just walked up to me and asked calmly, "Ready to go?"  It came out at the recent family reunion, 38 years later.

I have not left my kids behind, but I left my other half in Dallas once...

I don't remember all my parents (LMAO) but my adoptive parents never left me behind anywhere. I'm not sure why though! LMAO
Nope never left my kids behind anywhere. My children were always darling angels, just like me! LMAO

Twice.

Left me for 12 hours once.

4 years old.

Why do you ask?

Just for fun, B. Thank God you chimed in, I was starting to think it was just me. ;-)

My dad used to leave me at the Ohio State Fair for hours while he went out and got some poonanny and got drunk. He eventually came back and somehow got us home. I'm lucky to be here to talk about it.
You asked.

Just makes me want to give you a big ole hug, Angel eyes.

I would heartily embrace that gesture.
And I've never left my kids.

I can't believe my parents never left me anywhere...maybe they weren't as neglectful as i remembered. I left mine at a basketball court...all three. I thought the husband had them, husband thought i had them,...friend calls to tell me neither of us had them. Jackass husbands of mine geez

I know you've read 'The Glass Castle' Angel.... a memoir. Jeanette tells of when she fell out of the car and her dad doesn't realize for miles, turns around to pick her up and apologizes for her busted 'snotlocker'. Someone always has a better/worse story

Not by my folks, but on a school field trip. I was 16. Worst part was that one of the chaperones was my cousin!! The school bus had to turn around & come back for me (making the arrival back at the school an hour+ later than planned).

My parents left me a few times, but they said it was never on accident. I haven't left any of my kids, yet.
