Dirt-free potato bed

Now this is about the coolest idea ever. Our soil is clay and hard as a rock because of the two years of drought. Turning it and tilling it is a serious pain in the ass and takes all weekend. Here's a 4x6 foot potato bed using hay. No hard labor required.

Check out what Patrice is doing with her potatoes.
Tractor tires and composted cow poop.

Wow two Terry's on the same comment.
We plant potatoes in large pots.
Fill 'em with miracle grow soil and they do wonderful. Don't over water. Used to use straw over the top of the pots for moisture retention, but, with that soil it stays a constant.

Yep. We do that to.
One year didn't work out so good free ranging pet pig found them. She had a blast! And yes, she's still with us.
