A long time ago (but not in a galaxy far away) I worked at a place with a couple of black gals, one of whom was named "Placenta" (she said she got the name because her mother thought it was a nice sounding word), and "Orella," who pronounced it as "Ora Lee" (sounded like orally). !?!
I knew of a lady who was named "Die-Ann". I also knew another lady with many children that she began having when she was a younger teenager. Her latest child, she named "DuJour". When I heard that, she was a bit embarrassed and told me it sounded French and she didn't know at the time what it meant. I told her, nah - I think in your case, the name IS appropriate. Child "of the day".

Lol, this made me recall George Carlin's classic observation that in America, you can spell your name S-M-I-T-H and pronounce it 'Janofwski'
I do read Mostly Cajun every day. That's probably how I found this site.
Of course, talking about cool names, what about Frank Zappa's kids, Moon Unit and Dweezil? :-)
