Angel the Bookworm
I have had my nose glued to my Kindle pretty solidly for the last couple of days. Finishing one book on the Vietnam war, reading beginning to end my summer Fluff book, and starting a new Dresden Files book. I don't know why I've been so bookish, but just letting you know I didn't forget y'all.

Less reading for me, and more trying to get my classes set up, and get past writer's block.
When touring Ireland I visited Trinity College to view the Book of Kells. I then turned and walked into the pictured hall.
I came to a screeching halt. My jaw dropped.
Don't know how long I stood there in "book shock" before a staff member asked if I was OK.
I asked if they'd adopt me but, alas, I had to leave at closing as I wasn't student or staff.
Oh Stretch, I'm sooooo jealous. The only foreign countries I really want to visit are Scotland and Ireland. Maybe before I die.
My mother taught me something when I was young a million years ago, she read three or four books at a time and told me how to keep them separate. The best I can do is three.
It's always about you! Boo hoo hoo...sniff.

Haven't read too much on Korea or Vietnam, personally...need to remedy that. I did read a really good one about an LRRP group, and another about a SOG operative...but turn me loose in a place like that, and you might not see me for days! Please send pizza...
There's one thing that most of you probably thought about, but didn't mention. Look at that photo...close your eyes...and imagine the smell.
For those who have never been to DC...the National Archives and the Library of Congress....they smell like books.
That alone is worth a trip into the snake pit.
You're right, millerized, the smell of old books, leather bindings, heavy aged paper, nothing like it in the world.

Minute to minute action down and dirty fighting against entrenched NVA in underground bunkers which were connected. The troopers could kill everyone in a bunker and minutes later it would be manned again. Imagine below. This happened when the good Captain killed a Chinese advisor 10 feet away who had just thrown a satchel charge at him. His chief complaint, after the satchel charge went off in his face and he later awoke 20 feet away, was that he had lost his shotgun.:)
