Anything a factory can make, you can make. Most of the time, you can do it better. Here's my Twinkie recipe:
Spongecake:
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 salt
- 1/2 cup scalded milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1 teaspoon almond extract
Directions
- Beat eggs til thick&lemon colored (about 5 minutes with an electric mixer on medium speed).
- Gradually add the sugar a few spoons at a time; beat another 3 minutes.
- Slowly add flour, baking powder, salt.
- Beat in milk in three equal portions till blended.
- Add Flavoring.
- Beat 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into greased & floured creme canoe pan (see link)
- Bake in the center of a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes (or till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool on rack, 1 hour.
- Using pastry bag, fill cakes from the bottom in three places. Can use buttercream, cream cheese, marshmallow fluff or fruit filling.
- Wrap and refrigerate or freeze to use as needed.
Easy peasy. Now get in the kitchen and get to cookin'.

Mmmm marshmallow fluff. So much better then whip cream... ;-)
Now tell me, at what stage do you recommend adding the rum?
The rum is added liberally to the cook throughout the day. :-)
That'll work... ;-)
May I recommend an upcoming recipe?
Absolutely, recommend away...
